How Do You Clean a Deep Fat Fryer
Posted on March 5, 2010 by Elaine
I have been married for almost 10 years now and when we were getting married myself and my husband put together a wedding list for guests at our wedding. On our wedding list we put down a deep fat fryer and to this day it is still sitting in the box never been used. I suppose the only time it would really get used and I can see is for cooking fries and maybe donuts. But, I really have no requirement for this because it is not something to eat very often. We are also in the age of oven fries in my effort to feel like eating them and it saves a lot of problems.
My real problem lies around cleaning the fryer as if something I don’t particularly fancy doing. With this in mind I decided to do a little research on how do you clean a deep fat fryer.
I know you can reuse the oil but at some stage this is going to be needed to be replaced so cleaning out the fryer seems like the question. I decided to consult a friend who uses their appliance fairly regularly and gave me these tips.
1) The first official be to make sure that the oil is cool (which can take a few hours) and that she will unplugged the appliance.
2) You then tip the appliance on its side and pour the oil into a bowl.
3) Then need to use paper towels to wipe the interior of the appliance making sure that you clean as best as possible. It will take several attempts to do this correctly.
4) You then need to use a sponge which is slightly damp to wash the interior. You can use dishwashing soap at this stage but just be careful to make sure that you do not get any water neared the electric’s off the appliance.
5) if you need to clean the exterior use the same sponge again make sure it is just damp and not dripping wet.
6) You can now write the interior using paper towels. You can also do the same for the exterior. If you think that any water has come in contact with the electrics of the appliance you should not switch it on for 24 – 48 hours.
That’s all you have to do there is not much else needed would you have done these steps you should have a sparkling clean fryer that you can now add clean oil to. Because this seems so simple I may actually start to finally use my own after sitting in the box unused for 10 years? I wonder would it be safe to still use?
